Antique Edwardian Belle Époque 3 CT Old Cut Diamond & Platinum Convertible Brooch Pendant Necklace

An extraordinary example of turn of the century diamond craftsmanship, this antique jewel was designed to be worn two ways, as both a pendant and a brooch.

Dating approximately to the Belle Époque / Edwardian period, circa 1900–1915, the piece is crafted in PT950 platinum and set throughout with approximately 3.00 carats total weight of natural old-cut diamonds.

The elaborate openwork design features graceful scrolling and foliate forms punctuated by larger bezel-set old-cut diamonds. Three articulated diamond drops suspend from the lower portion of the jewel, creating beautiful movement and sparkle when worn.

The reverse reveals the craftsmanship that makes the piece particularly special: an integrated brooch pin and clasp allow the entire jewel to be worn independently as a statement brooch, while the upper fittings allow it to transform into a dramatic pendant.

Rather than the uniform precision of modern brilliant cuts, the antique diamonds display the larger facets, individual proportions and distinctive flashes of light that give old-cut diamonds their unmistakable character.
