A beautiful vintage Mikimoto Akoya cultured pearl and diamond flower ring, crafted in polished 18K yellow gold and signed with the Mikimoto maker’s mark.

Four luminous Akoya cultured pearls, measuring approximately 4.5 mm each, are arranged like the petals of a flower around a sparkling round diamond center. The pearls display beautiful silvery-white body color with soft rosy overtones and lovely luster.

At the center sits a petite round brilliant-cut diamond, adding just the right touch of sparkle against the softness of the pearls. Based on its appearance and scale relative to the approximately 4.5 mm pearls, the diamond is estimated at approximately 0.05 carat while mounted.

The floral cluster sits atop a beautifully simple polished yellow-gold band, allowing the pearls and diamond to remain the focus. From the side, the elevated setting gives the flower dimension while retaining an exceptionally delicate profile on the finger.

The interior of the shank bears the Mikimoto pictorial maker’s mark and K18 hallmark, denoting 18-karat gold.

DESIGN

The ring features a beautifully balanced floral composition, with four Akoya cultured pearls forming the petals of a tiny flower around a single diamond center.

Each pearl is individually mounted and positioned around the slightly elevated center diamond, giving the flower dimension and allowing light to reach the diamond from multiple angles.

The clean, polished 18K yellow-gold shank provides a beautiful contrast to the cool silvery-white pearls and keeps the overall design wonderfully refined.

CONDITION

Beautiful vintage condition with light surface wear to the 18K yellow gold consistent with age and previous use.

As with all fine pearl jewelry, avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray, cosmetics and household chemicals. Pearls are best put on last when dressing and removed first.

Because Mikimoto took four little pearls and somehow made them even prettier.

The 4.5 mm Akoya pearls give the flower enough presence to be noticed while keeping the ring wonderfully delicate. Then there’s that tiny diamond sitting right in the middle — just because apparently pearls weren’t charming enough already.
