A fabulous example of mid-century glamour, this vintage diamond cocktail ring features a sparkling floral cluster of round brilliant-cut diamonds set atop a wonderfully substantial 14K yellow gold mounting.
At the center of the design are seven principal round brilliant-cut diamonds—one center diamond surrounded by six additional stones to create the flower motif. Smaller diamond accents are nestled between the larger stones, adding even more sparkle and giving the cluster an almost continuous diamond appearance.
And then there’s the gold work.
The diamond flower rises from dramatically fluted, fan-like shoulders that radiate outward from the cluster and taper into the polished 14K yellow gold shank. The result is bold, sculptural and unmistakably mid-century.
Based on the design, proportions and construction, we would date the ring approximately to the 1950s–1960s.
The principal diamonds appear to be round brilliant cuts and are visually estimated at approximately G–H color and VS2–SI1 clarity, presenting beautifully bright and lively in the setting.
It’s part diamond flower, part cocktail ring, and part tiny piece of architecture.
